چکیده

A new methodology to build discrete models of boundary-value problems is presented. The h-pcloud method is applicable to arbitrary domains and employs only a scattered set of nodes to build approximate solutions to BVPs. This new method uses radial basis functions of varying size of supports and with polynomialreproducing properties of arbitrary order. The approximating properties of the h-p cloud functions are investigated in this article and a several theorems concerning these properties are presented. Moving least squares interpolants are used to build a partition of unity on the domain of interest. These functions are then used to construct, at a very low cost, trial and test functions for Galerkin approximations. The method exhibits a very high rate of convergence and has a greater -exibility than traditional h-p finite element methods. Several numerical experiments in I-D and 2-D are also presented. @ 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

A New Meshless Method to Solve Boundary-value Problems

This paper presents a new family of meshless methods for the solution of boundary-value problems. In the h-p cloud method, the solution space is composed of radial basis functions associated with a set of nodes arbitrarily placed in the domain. The paper describes the construction of the h-p cloud functions using a signed partition of unity and how h, p or h-p reenements can be implemented with...

Incompressible laminar flow computations by an upwind least-squares meshless method

In this paper, the laminar incompressible flow equations are solved by an upwind least-squares meshless method. Due to the difficulties in generating quality meshes, particularly in complex geometries, a meshless method is increasingly used as a new numerical tool. The meshless methods only use clouds of nodes to influence the domain of every node. Thus, they do not require the nodes to be conn...

Generalized Finite Element Methods: Main Ideas, Results, and Perspective

This paper is an overview of the main ideas of the Generalized Finite Element Method (GFEM). We present the basic results, experiences with, and potentials of this method. The GFEM is a generalization of the classical Finite Element Method — in its h, p, and h-p versions — as well as of the various forms of meshless methods used in engineering. Meshless Local Petrov-Galerkin Method– Steady, Non-Isothermal Fluid Flow Applications

Abstract : The meshless local Petrov-Galerkin method with unity as the weighting function has been applied to the solution of the Navier-Stokes and energy equations. The Navier-Stokes equations in terms of the stream function and vorticity formulation together with the energy equation are solved for a driven cavity flow for moderate Reynolds numbers using different point distributions. The L2-...

A numerical solution of mixed Volterra Fredholm integral equations of Urysohn type on non-rectangular regions using meshless methods

In this paper, we propose a new numerical method for solution of Urysohn two dimensional mixed Volterra-Fredholm integral equations of the second kind on a non-rectangular domain. The method approximates the solution by the discrete collocation method based on inverse multiquadric radial basis functions (RBFs) constructed on a set of disordered data. The method is a meshless method, because it ...
